Good afternoon
I hope September treated you well.
This month has been an important one for Parkes Energy Recovery as we progress through the first stages of our environmental applications and continue engaging with industry and the community.
In September, we attended and sponsored the Circular Futures Forum in Orange, where I also presented our plans for the project. It was a great opportunity to connect with regional industry leaders and share how Energy-from-Waste can play a role in building a more circular economy.
Our project office in Parkes is almost ready to open, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you there soon to share more about the project, hear your feedback and answer your questions. We’ll share more on that when it’s ready.
This month we also made substantial progress on our Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), particularly to develop our Scoping Report, which we are expecting to submit to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in October. Please find more on that below.
With the project office set to open, more engagement to come, and the first stages of our applications set to be submitted, the rest of the year is shaping up to be just as big.
As always, we’ll keep you updated and encourage anyone with questions to reach out at any time.
Until next month,
Ed Nicholas
Director, Parkes Energy Recovery

We were proud to support the Circular Futures in Orange and share the Parkes Energy Recovery story with industry and community leaders.
We have shared new FAQs on our website. Please take a look to have your most pressing questions answered. We will continue to update these. If there is a topic you would like included, please reach out.
Work is underway to open our new drop-in office in Parkes. This will be a place for the community to come and talk with us directly. We’ll share more information about this in the coming month.
The Scoping Report, which will be included in our EIS, is expected to be submitted in October. Once it has been accepted, the Department will issue the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs), and we will commence comprehensive technical assessments.
The NSW Parliament is holding an Inquiry into Energy-from-Waste. Anyone can make a submission, and we encourage community members who are interested to take part.
The Parkes Energy Recovery project is already approved and going ahead.
