July Update

July update

Good afternoon

We’re getting very close to finalising the technical assessments that will make up a significant part of our Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). I know many of you have been waiting to see this work, and I’m hoping that by the time you hear from me in September, I’ll be able to tell you that we’ve submitted our EIS to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

We’re also looking forward to being a part of the Parkes Show again this year. We’ll be setting up on the Monday, and there on Tuesday and Wednesday (1st and 2nd September).

As always, our team will be available to answer your questions and talk about what you can expect over the coming months, including what you’ll see in our EIS.

Parkes Show details

Location: Parkes Showground, Victoria Street, Parkes

Timing: 10am onwards on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September

If you can’t make it, don’t worry, there will be more opportunities to meet with us and learn about the EIS over the coming months. We’ll share our plans soon.

Importantly, I’d like to thank the Aboriginal community representatives who joined us late last month for a project briefing and site walkover to inform our Cultural Heritage Assessment. That is important work, and we appreciate the time and insights everyone contributed.

As always, if you have any questions or would like to have a chat with our team, please get in touch.

See you at the Show.

Ed Nicholas
Director, Parkes Energy Recovery

What’s happened this month?

We’re preparing our stall for the Parkes Show on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September 2026. Come and meet members of our project team, ask questions and learn more about the EIS and what comes next.

We’re finalising our EIS and the detailed technical studies that support it. We intend to submit it to the NSW Government in September and will share more about the findings and what happens next in the coming months.

Myth of the month

Myth

You need to be a technical expert to understand the EIS.

Fact

While an EIS contains detailed technical studies, we’ll help explain the key findings in plain language. We’ll also share a community guide to the EIS and provide opportunities to ask questions and learn more about the studies as the project moves through the planning process.
